Rudolphus, born in 1129, is the older half-brother of Severin and the heir to their father Lonriad, Duke of Luperia. He was betrothed to Alina, and was therefore scandalized when she ran off with Severin on the eve of their wedding. To save face, he married the undesirable Eudocia of Bandera instead, and it was at his bachelor party just before this wedding that Roderick committed the drunken acts that resulted in his exile from Dovia.
It is implied that Rudolphus still harbors sexual feelings for Alina, as well as jealousy of his brother. He also appears to have taken after his father in regards to women, and is repulsed by his wife.
