Dalston (1130-1165), was the younger son of Abrich, the late Lord Beretrin. As a spare son, Dalston had a predominantly carefree childhood, and was something of a playboy in his younger years. The only great tragedy of his youth was the sudden death of his mother in a freak accident in 1144, which he and his brother Arkon both witnessed.

In 1154, Dalston was given the hand of Celina Ysettra, niece and ward of King Farilon of Dovia, in exchange for his accompaniment of Prince Roderick into exile. They married in November of that year, shortly before departing, and were named Duke and Duchess of Armion. For the first year of their marriage, Dalston and Celina lived in silent awe of each other, sharing a shy sort of affection as each deemed themselves somewhat unworthy of the other. This was resolved following the birth of their eldest, Lornian, in September of 1155, when they finally professed their love for one another.

While Celina was pregnant with their second child in early 1157, Dalston and the other nobles journeyed to Dovia for the wedding of Cambrin, Earl of Sarona and Lileina of Hoprine. It was during this occasion that Dalston, in a moment of insecurity, slept with Queen Geneva, wife of King Roderick. They were seen by Lady Alina of Veldora, and her husband Severin sent word of Dalston's infidelity to Celina. She took the news to mean that Dalston had fallen out of love with her, and their marriage became rather cold until some time after the birth of their daughter, Xetrica, when Dalston made a point to rekindle the relationship.

Geneva gave birth to a daughter, Eilyssa, in October of 1157. Dalston and Celina had feared this child to be Dalston's, but the girl was actually the daughter of Aldhein, Roderick's steward. Aldhein was dismissed as soon as Roderick could find a suitable replacement, which worried him as he feared he could not support himself and Eilyssa without a well-paying job. Celina then took Eilyssa as a ward and offered Aldhein a job as Dalston's steward.

Dalston and Celina had a second son, Abrich, in July of 1160, and a second daughter, Wondrona, in August of 1161. A third son, Farilon, was born in April of 1165.

Dalston died in October 1165 after a prolonged separation of his soul and body, which was caused by Deian in a gamble that would determine the continuation of the Naron assault on the kingdom.
