1. Atala's favorite flowers are lilies. Since they were about twelve years old, Tavrin has made a point of gathering some for her at least once a month.

2. To this day, she still thinks her brother Vyro deserves a good thrashing every once in a while, and she doesn't mind giving him one.

1. In a strange way, Deian is very fond of Severin. He spends many a spare moment imagining gruesome deaths for him, but is secretly reluctant to actually kill him--because killing him would put an end to his favorite pastime.

Vron, born in 1134, is the younger son of Deian and Ylwa. He and the rest of his family live in the forests of Naroni. Their diet is mainly comprised of human flesh, though it has been implied that their kind does occasionally engage in cannibalism. He fathered a pair of hybrids during his younger, more reckless days. He also killed Norwan Ciramel. He recently had a vision telling him that he and his race could not leave Naroni unless the Dovians left first, which could potentially lead to a genocide. Veor, born in 1131, is the elder son of Deian and Ylwa. He and the rest of his family live in the forests of Naroni. Not much is known about them, other than the fact that they are at least partly something other than human, eat humans (they prefer Spaniards and Frenchmen to Dovians, as Dovians are reportedly salty), and may have some cannibalistic tendencies. In his younger, reckless days, he fathered a pair of twins by a Dovian male. He seems to be somewhat more mellow than his younger brother.

1. Since his elders left, Tavrin's diet has consisted mainly of fresh water fish. Sometimes they're cooked, but not always.

2. He has what might be called a friendly sort of rivalry with his cousin Vyro. They occasionally fight--violently--but are pretty much obliged to patch things up due to the fact that they are sleeping with each other's sisters.

3. Of Deian's four grandchildren, Tavrin was the one who got scolded the most--and yet, he was likely the one for which Deian felt the most fondness.

4. There is no association in Tavrin's mind between nudity and sex; as such, he does not understand why some of the Dovians who don't know him well feel uncomfortable with the fact that he doesn't wear clothes.

5. His grasp of the Dovian language is actually quite masterful; he keeps up the sloppy dialect just for kicks.

6. Tavrin doesn't like fighting and has no intention of getting involved in a confrontation with a Dovian any time soon. That being said, he could definitely take whatever they could throw his way, whoever they happen to be.

7. Atala used to beat him up when they were kids. Deian always told him that he could put her in her place when they were older, but Tavrin is disinclined to do this.

8. Like many people raised by a single father from a young age, Tavrin is curious about what happened to his mother. His father would usually hit him if he asked, however.

9. He has four fangs near the back of his mouth, as do all of his cousins. He is entirely carnivorous, to the point where he finds vegetables nauseating.
